ABOUT US

The Motor Trades Golfing Society is a friendly mid-week golf society playing fixtures from March through to October. Members are based all over the UK and have handicaps ranging from low single figures up to 24. Golf is generally located in the Surrey/Hampshire/Berkshire area, but we have matches all over the country.

The MTGS was formed as a Golfing Society on 14th Sept 1926. Membership is currently a healthy 165 but we are always on the lookout for keen golfers from a Motor Industry background to join us. New members have to be proposed and seconded by existing members and they need to have a handicap of 24 or under. We do accept a limited number of new members without existing member proposal, subject to committee approval.

The MTGS has an active fixture schedule. There are about 15 matches/meetings per year with competitions for over 35 trophies, some dating back to 1926. Guests are welcome along to many of the meetings. For those of you who enjoy playing abroad there is an annual tour in November which has visited Spain, Portugal and the USA in previous years. There is an annual lunch or dinner in London which has had an attendance of over 300 (members and guests). Paul Healy is Golf Manager.
